What are your top 10 most-played songs currently?
Hmm... At the moment, the main playlist on my iPod has 267 songs on it (out of nearly 4000 total songs). And then there are the songs that I've ripped/bought/downloaded (legally!) that I haven't added to my iPod yet. Keeping all of that in mind, this is a kinda tough question, so I'll throw at least 10 songs out there (in random order)...
- "Ultra Relax", from Kodocha - If you've seen the start of the show, then you could probably figure out why I like it. (If you've seen the remake of the intro, with stuff from Evangelion thrown in, then there's another reason why...)
- "Non-Entity", Nine Inch Nails - This song was one of the outtakes from With Teeth, later performed on MTV's benefit for Hurricane Katrina relief. Its only official release so far was on the recent DVD release, Beside You In Time. Despite that, it's been floating around in my head for the past few days.
- "The Outsider (Resident Renholder Mix)", A Perfect Circle - Apparently this is my reward to myself for finally ripping the "Resident Evil: Apocolypse" soundtrack.
- "Walking After You", Foo Fighters - One of the more low-key, under-the-radar songs released by Foo Fighters. Another reward to myself for finishing up ripping my soundtrack CDs, this one from the "X-Files" movie.
- "The Fall", Electric Light Orchestra - From the "Xanadu" soundtrack. I never did care much for the movie itself (way too cheesy), but for the most part I liked the soundtrack... mostly the ELO side. (Seriously, back in the days of records and tapes, the side with Olivia Newton-John was labelled as "Side ONJ", and the ELO side was "Side ELO" instead of Side 1/Side 2 or Side A/Side B.) This song is a bit depressing, but good to sing along to.
- "Don't Walk Away", ELO - The next song on the soundtrack. Again, a bit depressing, but good to sing along to.
- "Survivalism", Nine Inch Nails - Surprisingly enough, I was expecting to cram too many NIN songs onto this list. Instead, I crammed too many soundtrack songs on the list! At any rate, "Survivalism" has been the only song on Year Zero that I've even moderately gotten into. Oddly enough, I've gotten more involved in reading the backstory as it unfolds. (It's being released in a viral-style format, produced by the same group that did the "ILoveBees" site for Halo 2, and the viral stuff for "Lost".)
- "Circle In The Sand", [spunge] - A punk cover of an old Belinda Carlisle song. Acquired from my usual source for odd cover tunes, "Copy, Right?". If you go there to download, try to get the songs pretty close to when they're posted, since they're only up for a limited time.
- "Hungry Like The Wolf", Guild Of Ages - Less creepy than the Bruce Campbell version from the Old Spice commercials, this is another find from "Copy, Right?".
- "One Tin Soldier", Greg Ayres - From the Voices For Peace CD, a charity benefit album performed by anime voice actors. Also worth a listen are their vastly different interpretation of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son", and Amanda Winn-Lee's moving rendition of U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday".
I still need to upload my pictures from MTAC, even though I didn't take very many. I'm starting to hate my camera, since it takes a minute to get it set up to take one shot, and by then whatever I want to get a shot of has already moved on. Not only do I still need to make an MTAC-related post, I still need to redo the photo-dump post I tried to make before MTAC, which was nixed (see my second post here for more angry details on that).
I didn't take any pics at OMG!!con; my camera never even left its bag. It's OK, considering that I was busy being all over the place with both volunteering and doing other stuff at the con. Also, I only took a half-dozen shots at last year's OMG!con, and all of those were taken up in someone's room, where there were a dozen of us talking from like midnight to 4 AM.
I'll have to get to all of that eventually. At the moment, I'm surprised I'm still awake. So, here in a few minutes, I probably won't be awake. Go, me.
What is (or would be) your DJ name?
It would be MC Chris, but since that's already taken, I'd go with MC C. M., just to fuck with people's minds.
I was going to outline the changes that have gone on here, plus do another photo post. However, when I was trying to re-align the last picture in the post, it instead clicked through to attempt to view the image, INSIDE THE COMPOSING BOX. Clicking backward only resulted in having an empty box I couldn't type in. So, that post will have to wait, so I can eat and sleep. Hopefully I'll get to that before I leave for MTAC.
I finally have a use for my Vox page! By an odd coincidence, the idea for participating in Project 365 came from the same person that invited me to Vox in the first place. Anyway, on with the show!
The front of my car, as seen by prying apart the mini-blind and looking through the glass of my front door.
The view from the side door, looking out onto the patio. Two large branches fell out there at some point... I'm not sure when, really. I don't get much use out of the patio, or the side door.
I cleaned up and re-organized my entertainment center recently. You can't see any of the video games in this shot, since they're on the shelves to each side of the TV cart. The two DVD cases at the front of the TV stand are the ones that have been signed: the Cowboy Bebop movie (signed by Steve Blum) on the right, and the OMG!con DVD (signed by Greg Ayres) on the left.
A quarter, found at work. I know it's really blurry (turned out worse than I'd expected, actually), but if you look closely, you'll see that there's a ring of holes punched through it.
My two Axe devil duckies.
Oh shit! It's people in my house that aren't me!
This is Joey (background) and Manda (covering her face in the foreground). She's doing the artwork for OMG!!con (thus making her a con-artist); Joey is her husband. They live a few blocks away from me.
It's thinking...
My left wrist. From left to right: my watch (How can you miss it?!? It's huge!), two blue gel bracelets (they very rarely leave my wrist, as they hold sentimental value), and my Xbox 360 bracelet.
